On the afternoon of July 19, SAP announced today the appointment of Simon Dale as head of the Asia Pacific and Japan Region (APJ) technology Innovation Department, which has been in force since July 1, 2011.
When he takes office, he will be primarily responsible for pushing SAP's industry-leading innovative projects in memory computing, cloud computing and mobile applications into Asia-Pacific and Japan, SAP said.
Simon joined in an international team led by SAP, a member of the Executive Board responsible for leading technological innovation, Vishal Sikka, and will also support the work of the SAP HANA Executive Vice President Christoph Kollatz Swick.

Simon Dale has worked in SAP Asia Pacific and Japan for 10 years. In new jobs, he will oversee the further implementation and support of SAP's new innovation projects in the Asia-Pacific and Japan areas, including boosting customer adoption rates, promoting ecosystem development in the region, and responsible for the development of regional innovation centers, including SAP Joint innovation laboratories, research centers and cloud infrastructure.

Simon received a bachelor's degree in computer science from Staffordshire University in England. After graduating, he soon became a software developer and worked for a number of European technology companies, the most recent being the TopTier software company that SAP acquired in 2001.
