The November 14 news, in response to the rapid development of cloud computing and virtualization technology, global enterprise application leader SAP company recently joined EMC and VMware to launch strategic tripartite cooperation. At present, the tripartite cooperation has begun to develop tools and services to help customers more easily use cloud computing services, but also to help enterprises through a higher automated way, the next generation of cloud infrastructure to run SAP system. Today, SAP is deepening and expanding its partnerships with EMC and VMware, leveraging two key transformative technologies, cloud computing and memory technology, to deliver higher business agility and scale benefits to our customers. The news was announced at the SAP China Business and SAP Global Technology Developers Conference, held in Beijing, China, from November 15, 2011 to 17th.

Tripartite collaboration between EMC, VMware and SAP accelerates cloud computing application processes

SAP and partners are undertaking a deeper, continuous expansion of innovation to give full play to the benefits of widely used virtualization and cloud computing technologies. As an important component, SAP is currently conducting a joint assessment with EMC and VMware and plans to roll out end-to-end stacks. These stacks are optimized so that you can run SAP applications with mission-critical tasks. Through collaboration, three companies plan to invest and integrate the industry's best application, database, virtualization, management, and information infrastructure technologies, while providing new services to support and accelerate the cloud computing process for customers. In addition, SAP consulting services and global support services will focus on helping customers accurately assess, design, implement, and optimize virtualization and cloud computing strategies and minimize their impact on customer business.

As part of the Extended Collaboration project, SAP and VMware plan to integrate SAP configuration and health check features that run on the VMware cloud infrastructure into Sap®goinglive™check services and SAP Earlywatch®alert services. Provide customers with expanded support services to help them better monitor and manage SAP systems running on VMware platforms.

In addition, SAP will significantly improve the manageability of enterprise applications running on private clouds. This improvement is primarily through an assessment of the delivery of VMware vsphere virtual applications and coordinated by a declarative model written in the Tosca language. Recently, Tosca language has been submitted to the international organization of Structured Data Standards (OASIS) for standardization. SAP, VMware, and EMC plan to jointly develop new automation and management tools to read and run the Tosca model provided by SAP.

SAP and EMC will seek more collaborative opportunities around the SAP Hana™ platform to deliver high-end systems that can be applied and EMC's fully automated storage tiering technology (FAST). This deep collaboration will further strengthen SAP's memory technology and help them gain tangible insights into business processes by providing scalability and high availability to customers.

"Today, as virtualization is increasingly used in both business and utility industries, SAP customers are moving their focus to cloud computing strategies in mission-critical environments," said Pat Gelsinger, director and chief operating officer of EMC information Infrastructure products. As a result, EMC, SAP, and VMware are gathering strength to accelerate the process of applying hybrid cloud computing to SAP customers. By consolidating our tripartite technical advantages and introducing new services, we look forward to improving the business agility of our shared customers while helping them reduce it costs. ”

"We see that customers are rapidly developing to full virtualization, which is a decisive step towards a mixed cloud of business," said Paul Maritz, VMware's chief executive. The virtualization of mission-critical production databases and related applications is also a very important part of this process. By optimizing the full range of new products, providing professional services and joint customer support, we will provide our customers with more assistance and confidence, help them to virtualize SAP scenarios, deliver value faster, and lower TCO, delivering the highest level of service and availability to end users. ”

Leverage virtualization services to improve management level

By providing a comprehensive portfolio of consulting services, the Sap®services organization will provide support for customer project and migration efforts. These services are now able to apply virtualization to cloud-based models and cover the entire cycle-from planning conceptual blueprints to migrations to agile and efficient management of virtualized, cloud-based SAP environments. For scenarios where virtualization is accomplished through VMware vsphere, SAP Services is evaluating optional modules and plans to launch a joint engagement model with VMware to provide full support to customers. In addition, customers will benefit from the joint Assessment Service launched by SAP and VMware, which will identify the conditions and options needed for a virtual SAP scenario in a more cost-effective manner.

"SAP is partnering with industry leaders in our broad ecosystem to provide greater openness and choice for customers to help them apply cloud computing technology more easily," says Dr Swick, a member of the SAP Executive Board and leader in the technology and innovation platform. Market watchers believe that the next generation of SAP's architecture is delivering these disruptive innovations to customers without disrupting their day-to-day operations. Our collaborative innovation with EMC and VMware validates this. We will bring these benefits to our customers with the spirit of openness, mutual trust and common innovation that we share with our partners. ”
