Beijing time September 28 afternoon news, according to foreign media reported today, the German software giant SAP although already started to develop network software business, but in the three years of development, but only attracted less than 100 users. Slow progress SAP released a service three years ago that allows users to access business software packages over the Internet in the form of a fixed monthly fee. This is one of a series of measures taken by the company to attract small businesses with the help of Internet services. The German software giant promised in September 2007 that the product, named Business ByDesign, would have 10,000 users by 2010. But issues such as performance, cost, and user interface have hindered the development of the product. Analysts believe that the SAP service currently users close to 100. Reine Zino (Rainer Zinow) said: "The project did not achieve the expected success." You can do anything in the lab, but in the real world, it's more difficult. "While manufacturers are promoting commercial software as a Web service, some companies in Europe and the UK say they do not generally use this service because they are slow and difficult to use." Others say they have investigated the products of companies such as Salesforce.com, but have not found a product to cover all the business processes they need. Tough choices SAP and its rivals say the industry has undergone a transition to product promotion and user training. Vendors say that using Web services to buy software can make it unnecessary for users to deploy security, upgrades, and maintenance, and not incur the high cost of a computer system. This July, SAP launched the latest version of Business ByDesign. The software is hosted by SAP's data center and is available to users at a price of € 133 per month (about 179 US dollars), and includes applications such as financial systems and project management. German Network Marketing service provider Bestsidestory GmbH is a user of business bydesign. Schilling Kerstin Schilling, the company's CEO, said she hesitated for a year before using SAP's Web software services, in part because of fears that the project would take too long and cost too much. She stumbled across SAP's web software services when she attended a meeting last November, but she did not believe that the service would meet her requirements for every upgrade. "It's really a tough decision to believe in SAP," she said. Earlier this year, she tried the latest version of Business ByDesign. She says many applications have been improved, for example, to test new projects before they are deployed to the entire company. Bestsidestory GmbH purchased 10 of its 15 employees this monthThe service. The huge market in addition to SAP, network software provider NetSuite This July also for the UK and European users increased project management, billing and other applications. NetSuite Openair Service costs 49 USD per person per month. Microsoft said it would launch a new business proeudtivity Suite this fall, which will provide e-mail, Web sites, file sharing and other software services to small and medium-sized businesses, with a monthly cost of $10 per month. Klaus Holse Andersen, vice president of Western Europe, said a year ago that Microsoft needed to Klaus Hols Anderson network software for small businesses. Now, he says, more small businesses are already aware of such services and are in contact with Microsoft. According to IDC, a US market research firm, sales of the software-SaaS industry will reach $40.5 billion trillion in 2014, just 13.2 billion dollars last year. IDC expects that the shift to such services will lead to a reduction of nearly $7 billion trillion in traditional software-authorized revenues this year. Europe, the Middle East and Africa accounted for only a small share of the software-services market, which was about 13% last year, compared with 74% in the US, IDC said. By 2014, the share of the region will increase to 35% per cent. As Europe's largest software company, SAP should be wary of this trend. Zino says the market for large enterprises selling software is saturated. Although SAP achieved 17% per cent of software sales growth in the quarter ending June 30, software sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa have fallen by 9%, in part because users are more cautious about cash spending. British Investment news agency Angelnews CEO Medevina Rhise-Rue (Modwenna Rees-mogg) has been focusing on the Internet software market for two years, but she still hasn't found a product that fits all of its business processes. Rue, who owns 5 full-time employees, says costs are a big factor in the recent process of selecting SAP products. As a company with only 5 employees, it is more cost effective to pay for software services that are appropriately upgraded every month than to buy and maintain a new system, she said. "I think it will at least save us an employee," he said. This is a big difference for us. "she said.
