A recent survey of 346 cloud computing solution providers' executives, cloud computing service buyers and cloud computing consultants evaluated each one's attitude toward adoption of cloud computing. The results showed that a large proportion of the respondents planned or have begun to implement the cloud plan.
The survey was conducted by market research firm Everest Group and Cloud Connect. In the survey, most respondents said they are committed to migrating more of their IT assets to the cloud; planning for greater business value from cloud technologies in the future.
From Software as a Service (SaaS) to Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
According to the survey respondents, the adoption of software as a service (SaaS) remains the dominant cloud computing model.
However, many respondents said they are planning to implement the cloud infrastructure model, and the private cloud model is expected to grow the fastest.
VMware is the virtualization leader in cloud computing
VMware is still the most popular cloud computing virtualization vendor, followed by Microsoft Hyper-V and KVM. 19% of respondents said they have no preference for virtualization companies.

Among the leading cloud platforms available on the market, including Rackspace's widely promoted OpenStack, IBM SmartCloud and Citrix CloudStack, VMware received as much as 34% of respondents' favors.
Disaster recovery and business intelligence into the cloud
Surveys show that early adopters of cloud computing workloads such as application development and testing and e-mail / collaboration continue to move into the cloud.
However, a significant percentage of companies claim that the reason they plan to implement a cloud infrastructure is to meet the requirements for disaster recovery, storage and archiving.
Meet the cloud computing goals
The vast majority of respondents said they met the cloud computing goals.
These goals include cost savings, access to a flexible infrastructure, shorter time to market, and increased customer satisfaction.
Generic clouds are still welcome
69% of the respondents used clouds that were not generic to the verticals.
However, 15% of respondents also used industry-specific solutions; 17% of respondents used industry-specific solutions and common clouds, demonstrating that a significant number of people are using industry-specific clouds.
IT departments and corporate executives do cloud computing decision-making
IT managers and business leaders formed the main decision-making community that decided to adopt cloud computing, with 67% of respondents indicating that IT departments are involved in making decisions in this area.
The survey claims that compared to other IT purchasing decisions, cloud computing spending has been significantly increased by top executives.
