1. Quantum DXi8500

3. EMC Avamar Data Store
There is a lot of controversy between target-side data deduplication and source-side deduplication in the data de-duplication community. EMC also offers solutions for two of technologies. This is better for users who need VMware, remote offices and NAS (network attached storage) and limited bandwidth resources.

4. EMC Data Domain Boost
Data de-duplication for source-side deduplication is generally more efficient, but the downside is that it consumes CPU resources. Therefore, if you are backing up a SAN (storage area Network) for source-side data-de-duplication, performance may fall very quickly. Using target-side data de-duplication technology can ease the burden on the SAN. Target-side data duplication is also frequently used in databases.
In view of the customer's concerns, EMC Data Domain offers a wide range of products, including all-scope equipment. Boost Software is probably one of the most visible. In a way, boost software has scrambled the contention between source and target technology. Although data domain is still a target-level product, boost has shifted most of the workload to the backup media server. EMC's idea is not to have all the data on the Internet during the backup process and let the duplicate data-removal device sort out which data is already recorded and which data is new, but rather let the media server make a decision beforehand and transfer only the necessary material to the network.
Boost reduces the load on the backup server and frees up more bandwidth for the data domain device. This, according to EMC, saves 80-99% backup LAN (LAN) bandwidth and can increase the speed of data domain devices by 50%.
