In the Silicon Valley Business Circle, Dave MACCU (Dave McClure) is a famous name. He is a well-known programmer, has more than 20 years of experience in Silicon Valley, has been a software engineer, entrepreneurs, bloggers, angel investors and business consultants, and so on, invested more than 250 startups, with Microsoft, Intel, Facebook, PayPal and other companies have been working together. His present identity is the founding partner of Starups, the Silicon Valley incubator.

Entrepreneurial team from the global

Startups was founded in 2010, named after the ambition of the Marcum Incubator 500 Startups, which is headquartered at 12 floors of a high-rise in the city's mountain View of Kings, about 500 square meters in size. Compared to the average 2-3-storey building in the Silicon Valley, the office can view the entire Silicon Valley. Christine Tsai, a startups partner, told Sina technology that there are 26 startups working here, and that the size of each entrepreneurial team is around 3.

Startups from the start of the global start-up companies to Silicon Valley for 3-4 months of "incubation training", held 3 times a year, while providing 10,000-250,000 U.S. dollars in investment, based on the company's valuation of different companies to obtain 5% of the entrepreneurial team shares. This is different from one of Silicon Valley's other well-known incubator y Combinator (YC), which requires a higher stake (averaging 8%).

Of course, because of the influence of YC founder Paul Graham Paul Graham and the brand effect of YC, the start-up teams of YC training camp are often more likely to get funding and demand higher valuations. In addition, all the start-up teams participating in the YC training camp were able to get 150,000 of dollars in convertible bonds from Silicon Valley's renowned angel investor Ron Conway and Russia's big Henyuri Mirna (Yuri Milner).

Marcum has been in close contact with Silicon Valley's investment circle for many years. In 2008-2010, he managed the seed investment project for Founders Fund, and in 2009, Facebook and its investor accel the business incubator project. He is also an angel investor who has invested in many entrepreneurial projects in China, including the "I Hitch" carpool project that Sina technology has introduced. He will also use his influence to find financing for the entrepreneurial team.

Unlike YC's application for a start-up team, startups does not accept a project application from a start-up team, and all the teams that come to Silicon Valley for incubation are directly recommended by startups's global partners to meet their investment standards before they are admitted to Silicon Valley. At the end of incubation training, all start-up teams must move from startups to make room for the next group of trainees.
