Singapore Post said that the terminal will be used as a parcel delivery mode, for online shopping customers to choose. After the test phase, the parcel terminal will be open to all e-commerce businesses.
Singapore Post chief executive Wolfgang Bayer said that the company will study the way the public uses terminals and the problems that exist before a wide range of promotion, and better improve the whole process. If the customer reflects well, plan to launch 100 package terminals. The company hopes to extend it to a convenient public collection, such as residential areas, office buildings, subway perimeter, bus hubs and large shopping malls. In the future, through the parcel terminal, customers can not only collect parcels, but also mail parcels.
Singapore Post launched a total of 5 package terminals during the testing phase. The February test showed that about 80% of the users received parcels within 3 days, and more than 60% of the customers received parcels at the time of the non working hours, and 30% on weekends. Currently, the test package terminal is provided by Australian company TZ, and if it goes well, it will provide 50 more machines next year and will reach 100 units in the coming years.
