SMIC (00981-HK) is now up 8.24%, at HK $0.46, to clinch HK $127 million, which is now winning the market, with the index down 1.96%, to HK $0.475. Morgan Stanley maintained its reduction rating, with a target price of only HK $0.22, well below current prices, although the bank's view of China's wafer-making company shares was cautiously revised to coincide with the big city. Morgan Stanley said the company's technology business was as much as that of manufacturing, adding that there was no confidence that the company had enough technology to compete with its peers.
