Sina Science and technology news Beijing time of June 17 morning, near-field communications chip manufacturer NXP revealed that Sony Ericsson (hereinafter referred to as "Sony Ericsson") is preparing to add near-field communications chips in Android phones, so that mobile phone support mobile payment, ticketing applications and location-based promotional activities. Google and Samsung jointly launched the Nexus S mobile phone also used NXP near-field communications chip. Sony Ericsson is currently planning to become the world's largest Android handset maker, and the inclusion of near-field communications in mobile phones will help to achieve this goal. In the past few years, near-field communication technology has been widely publicized, and as the infrastructure matures, more mobile phone makers are expected to announce that the technology will be supported by mobile phones in the future. Last month, Google announced the launch of its payment services Google Wallet (Google Wallet). The service was supported by Citibank, MasterCard, Sprint and first data. However, the service is currently available only in San Francisco and New York, and only applies to Nexus S handsets operated by Sprint. Sony Ericsson became the next handset maker to receive near-field communications, perhaps surprisingly, because Sony Ericsson's first few Android phones were slow to upgrade software. For example, the Xperia X10, which was launched by Sony Ericsson at the end of 2009, initially used the Android 1.6 system, when Android 2.0 was released. Sony Ericsson eventually offered the phone an upgrade to the Android 2.1 system, but there was a delay in the process, and it took nearly 1 years to help the user complete the upgrade. When it comes to talking about the leading Android feature, Sony Ericsson won't be the focus. Last September, Sony Ericsson announced plans to abandon the Symbian platform and develop Android handsets. Sony Ericsson hopes to surpass Samsung, HTC, LG and other companies in the Android phone market. Sony Ericsson currently shares 9% of the Android phone market, according to Strategy Analytics. Sony Ericsson in the Xperia Play smartphone introduced the PlayStation game elements. The Android 2.3 system is very powerful in gaming, with a Sony PSP gaming console and a gaming library from Sony. Xperia play did not record sales, but the product shows that Sony Ericsson is trying to achieve the goals set earlier. If Sony Ericsson can successfully combine wireless communication technology with mobile phones, it will have great potential for development. In addition, Sony Ericsson can prove that there is the ability to nearly field communication technology from the theory into practical functions. (D-Gold)
