"TechWeb Report" January 28 news, according to the Nikkei news, Sony plans to lay off another 1000 people in its mobile device division, mainly to European and Chinese workers.

As early as last October, Sony announced that it had laid off 1000 people in the mobile sector. The layoff statement confirms the previous layoff plan.

As of March 2016, the end of the fiscal year in 2015, Sony Mobile staff will drop 30% and shrink to 5000, the Nikkei News reported.

At present, Sony and mobile phone giant Apple and Samsung launched fierce competition. Sony plans to release the detailed details of the layoffs from April to December on February 4.

Sony hasn't commented on the news until press release.
