Sony to launch first tablet computer this summer or in the US

According to overseas media reports, Sony president Howard Stringer recently told the media that the company will launch the first PS-certified tablet computer this late summer. It is reported that Stringer is the first Sony to confirm the news to the senior executives. He also stressed that the tablet was chosen in the United States, not Japan.　　If all goes well, the new device will be available in mid-September.　　Sony then told the Japanese website AV Watch that the device would be released this year-a vague statement by Sony that they seemed to be taking back the stringer, or that the device would be released in Japan this year. The current style of the device is still unknown; there are rumours that Sony will adopt the S1 model (pictured above) or the flip-S2 model. In addition, the tablet will use the Android operating system and, like Sony Ericsson recently launched the Xperia play, with "PS certification", which may mean that the device will have "PS game quality of operation."
