Start Menu for Windows Mobile 6.5

Since Luafie has some questions about how to add shortcuts to the Start menu when packaging Windows Mobile, let me summarize my experience.

Historical development

Although the Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6.1 resolutions, the screen size may be different, but their Start menu is the same, and can only display up to 7 menu items, new menu items can not be displayed in the Start menu, unless the original menu items are deleted.

The Windows Mobile 6.5 Start menu is no longer the traditional Windows Start menu, it is a touch screen selection box, a bit like the iphone's lattice, but it is honeycomb, as shown below:

The Start menu design for Windows Mobile 6.5 is optimized in theory to support unlimited menu items that are no longer subject to 7 items. More like a mobile device than a desktop system.

How to display menu items

A menu item is actually a shortcut, and there are many menu items available under Windows Mobile 6.5, so there are many shortcuts under the \Windows\Start menu. The following figure:

Before 6.5, if you need to display a new menu item, you need to remove the original shortcut and add a new shortcut. This process can be done by writing a DLL and specifying the execution of this DLL in the Deploy project to complete the deletion and new shortcuts.
