Talking about DOS and Windows 98 coexisting

We can use the following two ways to enable the machine to start directly or choose to enter the DOS environment.

Method One: Boot directly into DOS

1. First remove the read-only and hidden properties of the Msdos.sys file (if the command "attrib-r-H C:\msdos.sys" is used under Dos).

2. Open the Msdos.sys file with Notepad, and then change the value of "Bootgui" to 0 and save the exit (if you can edit it in DOS with the "edit C:\msdos.sys" command).

3. Restore the read-only and hidden properties of the Msdos.sys file (if the command "attrib R panes C:\msdos.sys" is used under Dos).

4. The system will enter the DOS directly after reboot. If you want to enter Windows, type win at the prompt, and enter.
Method Two: The boot according to need to choose

1. The above method is still used to remove the read-only and hidden properties of the Msdos.sys file.

2. Change the value of "BootMenu" to 1, change the value of "Bootgui" to 1, and the value of "Bootmenudefault" to 5 (if you do not establish it yourself, note the format).

3. Restore the read-only and hidden properties of the Msdos.sys file.

4. Reboot will appear after the boot menu, you can choose whether to enter Windows or DOS. If there is no selection, then automatically enters DOS after 30 seconds (you can set Bootmenudefault to 1 if you want to automatically enter Windows).
