Recently our team used dream distributed computing platform to do such a thing, will github a large number of data crawled down through the crawler, through analysis, we extracted the last year part of the developer and project information, got the following interesting information, so to share, the data authentic, no manual interference. First Data: Global IT talent distribution

The darker the color, the more it people gather. In fact, from this data, we can understand that the United States, China, India, Russia is a software power, but we also found that South Africa and Brazil also good performance.
Second data: Global Software City rankings
These cities are ranked in order: San Francisco, London, Berlin, Paris, New York, Stockholms, Beijing, Bangalore

Through the statistics of the top 8, the Silicon Valley region is still the world's IT center, we do not feel the European IT industry is not very good, from the data, their ability is still very good, the gap between Beijing and the world still exists, India's Silicon Valley and Beijing's gap is not obvious.
Third data: China software City rankings
According to their ranking, they are: Beijing, full-circle, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Nanjing, Dalian, Xiamen, Qingdao.

This data once again proves that Beijing Shanghai is an IT city that cannot be shaken by China, even Hangzhou, there is quite a big gap. Nanjing Government has been working the Chinese software city, it takes a lot of effort.
Fourth data: Global software business rankings
We analyzed 7 of these companies: Google, Twitter, Microsoft, Yandex, Red Hat, globo.com, ThoughtWorks.

"Google is a major contributor to the open source community, but there are also Microsoft companies on the list, which proves once again that Microsoft is the same company that is committed to the open source world, certainly not Oracle," he said. All businesses have found two problems: 1. Investing in open source communities can boost the overall impact of a business. 2. To achieve the same impact, the investment quota is less than advertising.
Fifth data: China software companies list
What kind of company do you expect to see here? I dare not make up, use the data to speak, they are: TaoBao, Baidu, Tencent, Douban Inc, Alibaba, sneered.

These companies are currently active in the domestic software companies, but 360 Qihoo company is an accident. We are rarely concerned about NetEase, the last year also for the open source community has made a lot of contributions.
Sixth data: Global IT Universities rankings
This data I really do not want to take out, because there is no Chinese universities, I tried to make a bit more, but still did not find. List of global IT universities: Carnegie Mellon University, University of Washington, Stanford University, University of Michigan, Cornell University, Columbia University, University of Cambridge, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo.

The data once again proves that Carnegie Mellon is the Temple of the global it elite. Education is a very important part of China to become a software power, but also need to work education.
Seventh data: Ranking of Chinese it universities
Although in the last data, we did not find Chinese universities, but we still took out the Chinese software University rankings: Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Peking University, Sun Yat-sen University, Nanjing University, Shenzhen University.

Tsinghua University has been the best in China's IT education field, many books on computers are published by Tsinghua University, of course, Zhongshan University is a bit surprising.
Summary: The facts tell us that all the software powers, all the soft power, can not only be slogans, we need practical action, China to become a software power, or even a powerful country, there is a long way to go. Why? Open source is brewing new technology, is the cradle of new technology development!
