BEIJING, July 6, 2012 – Leading manufacturer of the global oscilloscope market---the company announced that it is working to simplify the test complexity of the serial bus---considering that the current serial bus standards become faster and more complex, commissioning has become a major problem affecting engineering productivity. To this end, the introduction of a wide range of oscilloscope firmware and software upgrades to simplify and shorten the serial bus debugging cycle, and enhance the number of important serial bus standards support, including PCI Express, Lin, FlexRay, mil-std-1553b and most ( Media-oriented system transfer).
Over the past few years, the diversity and complexity of the serial bus has increased, and engineers have been less and less available to solve signal integrity problems. According to a recent study by EDN's Mind of the Engineer, 54% of engineers said they wanted to "do more with less" and 48% said they had more job functions and responsibilities than before. Without a thorough understanding of the serial bus standards, engineers often find it difficult and frustrating to verify performance and consistency issues. To counter this trend, the company has increased its support for serial bus testing in its high-performance oscilloscope series.
"We learned from our customers that the challenges of serial bus debugging are increasing because of the rapid change and complexity of the serial bus field," said Brian Reich, general manager of the high performance oscilloscope. What they need now is to simplify the serial bus debugging and validation. To meet this demand, we have launched a major upgrade based on expertise in standard areas to provide comprehensive system ' confidence ' and maximize productivity. Now by using a single instrument-that is, an oscilloscope-customers can quickly identify timed or protocol-based errors to help save time and reduce equipment costs. ”
Enhanced Trigger function
As signal complexity continues to rise, a highly flexible trigger system is needed to capture unique events on an oscilloscope. The company relies on the most flexible triggering system in the industry to--visual trigger--to meet this demand. Visual Trigger allows an engineer to use its mouse or touch screen, from a custom shape, to match the waveform of interest. This highly intuitive function will change the way engineers interact with the trigger system on the oscilloscope. In addition, with the new "Mark All Triggers" feature, the high performance trigger system ensures that all potentially complex behaviors can be captured and searched in the established interest collection.
Data analysis capabilities tailored to the use of MATLAB engineers
Engineers typically use a high performance oscilloscope, given its characteristics such as rapid measurement acquisition and ultra-high signal fidelity. Engineers then often use processing and analysis tools, such as matlab--, to analyze waveform data in a variety of user-defined ways. Now, the company has introduced a custom analysis interface with matlab®, which provides a unique mapping and filtering function for oscilloscope users to improve the depth of the analysis.
dpojet– industry's top analysis and debugging engine
With the continuous increase of serial bus speed, crosstalk problem is becoming more and more concerned. Now after the upgrade, the users of the Tiberium Oscilloscope will be able to better identify the crosstalk problem in their design, without resorting to the BER analyzer. The popular Dpojet jitter and eye graph analysis tool has added an algorithm to correctly recognize crosstalk-induced jitter as bounded, unrelated jitter (Buj). This means that a real-time oscilloscope can be used to measure total jitter and to isolate crosstalk or inter-symbol interference (ISI) from other jitter sources. You can also use Microsoft Visual Studio to create libraries, for example, to customize measurements in Dpojet.
"At today's rapid clock rate and data rate, we know that crosstalk issues seriously affect our jitter budget," said Dr Mike Li, a partner at Altera company. The problem has always been that in the past it was very difficult to tell whether the jitter was from crosstalk or other sources, which significantly slowed down the debugging process. In our initial assessment, we found that the new Buj-aware version of Dpojet can accurately reveal crosstalk problems and greatly increase our confidence in the accuracy of the Tj@ber (total jitter @ ber) value from the oscilloscope. ”
In addition, Dpojet also strengthens the ability to add custom measurements, and supports the use of the hybrid signal function of the MSO5000 and MSO70000 series oscilloscope for logical signal acquisition. This logical channel feature allows 16 addresses and command bus signals to be integrated into the Dpojet debugging environment.
Serial decoding/triggering/searching
Although most serial buses have similar signaling architectures, there are important nuances between standards and standards. By providing automated test suites, Terry makes it unnecessary for engineers to be experts in every standard. The latest release can help design engineers in two important industries, automotive and high-end computing, to speed up serial bus verification.
To support the increasing use of electronic products in automobiles, the company has introduced powerful Lin support and new features for analyzing flexray and most buses. These buses are widely used in the automotive industry and many other markets, such as light aircraft and heavy equipment.
With the increase in the number and complexity of high-speed serial buses in the enterprise server industry, the company now provides support for all derived PCI Express physical layer decoding for the bus standard. This enables the already very powerful 8B/10B decoding functionality to be further enhanced, while helping engineers accelerate PCIe design validation and problem resolution.
