Tesla Model S has the world's almost largest central control screen-17 inches, and two IPad mini on the same size. As an IOS developer, the first time I saw this screen was slightly more complicated, but after playing for a while I started. After all, the car is not the IPad, the design concept and starting point are different. Let's learn about it from the UI style and functional blocks.

On the division of functional blocks, from top to bottom are:

Status and notification area: Display the outside temperature, current charge, notice and warning, Bluetooth/3g, there is time;

Media and other functional areas: This area is a bit like the Dock on IOS, with several big buttons being media, energy, networks, cameras and phones. Not sure if you can change the icon dynamically.

App Run Area: The middle two windows are currently running the app, yes, Tesla OS is a multi-task operating system that supports the split screen, the following will be specifically introduced;

Other equipment in the car control area: This part and the traditional car a bit like, even the UI is to simulate the real world, where you can control air-conditioning, ventilation and volume and so on;

Browser Features

I can't wait to open the browser to my Blog as soon as I get on this car, what about the experience of web browsing? I can say, so-so. But I'm comparing it to the IPad browsing experience.

Tesla OS browser opening and URL input is relatively fast, especially the screen appears under the virtual keyboard can be easily used. Web page rendering and display is also good, in line with the higher requirements, when I zoom, fast scrolling experience, still feel a very clear sense of the card (compared with the IPad). Of course, if only the usual slow drag-and-drop view is still no problem.

Then I tried to connect the IPhone and put up the Watercress FM. The result is a pretty good experience. Do not say the sound quality of car stereo, here I found the Tesla OS multitasking is very good.
For example, I can browse the page in the last half of the screen (drag), and then another person on the next half of the screen to switch songs or click Play, pause, the operation of the response is relatively rapid. You can also control air-conditioning or other equipment in the bottom area while browsing the web.

Also worth mentioning is its upper and lower window switching mode. Touch the small icon on the right side of the center, which is interchangeable with the window below. So we can put the most commonly used applications in the area closer to the hand, but also a very practical function.

Control of Automobiles

As I said before, Tesla's buttons are very small, and most of the functions are controlled by this large central control system, such as air conditioners, skylights, luggage boxes ... There are even ambient lights, reading lights.

Here, can also adjust the charging mode: each charge need to charge how much, a few start charging, can be adjusted.

The vehicle's movement mode can also adjust, for example: Normal mode and movement mode.
