The advent of the big data age makes storage space smaller

Today we are talking about a topic that is enough to keep CIOs growing. CEOs often call a meeting to announce that we need streamlined, refined storage equipment, and strive to reduce operating costs and improve efficiency. And he wants us to improve our ability to handle large amounts of data. Often, these directives from the leader have a hint of irony.

But the fact is that Internet technology is forced to serve two areas: it transitions from the old static architecture to a more flexible dynamic cloud computing environment. This shift has sparked some radical innovations, especially in the storage architecture. For a long time, when new technologies such as virtualization are involved, the design of the storage architecture is not appreciated. But these innovative ideas are exactly what CEOs want: simplifying storage architectures without reducing capacity, but actually improving the ability to handle increasingly large, increasingly complex deposits.

HP's latest breakthroughs are the 3PAR storage servers and related systems on the new production line, designed to provide a single, integrated architecture for midsize and large operations. The package includes the new Storeserv 7000, which allows you to experience top performance at a mid-range price, such as duplicate data deletion and advanced analytics, which also improves search capabilities and large data modeling capabilities. At the same time, HP designed a new set of storeonce backup servers for the cloud architecture's multi-user capabilities. This technology will help the enterprise consolidate its storage space as it becomes closer to the capabilities of the cloud server.

But more importantly, HP has designed systems that connect directly to blades without having to pass through fibre-optic san channels. The system employs a new, virtual-connected, direct-attached Fibre Channel system that enables the company's so-called "flat San" to access 768 blades. To achieve this effect, not only do a lot of network infrastructure construction, and upload process accelerated 2.5 times times.

However, San Architecture is not a new concept. Just as Nutanix companies have embarked on preparing their third and fourth generation platforms and pursuing fully modular data centers. The new Nutanix OS 3.0 software and nx-3000 series hardware systems provide similar functionality to dynamic cluster extensions, and KVM virtual machine monitors can support configuration on a single cluster when calculating heavy loads. With the combination of PCIe and SATA solid-state drives and hard drives, combined with a different memory capacity and scope for each kernel slot, the design requirements of the system are diverse, including the need for large data.

The modularity of data may make storage more streamlined, but is it a better choice for large data analysis areas? "Speed and scalability are not the only factors we consider," said George Crump, chief analyst at Storage Switzerland. Data protection and reliability is what we need to weigh. If you have a system that does not use Sans, all of its data is stored on the VM host, and when a hardware failure occurs, the data and the necessary VM host are migrated to the new host, so that the data may be lost or, at best, the data is corrupted. We also have a way to minimize this risk, such as backing up data to a secondary host or shared storage device, although these require at least one basic network architecture, which, of course, increases the cost and complexity of the data.

When it comes to the need for storage and large data, there seems to be no simple answer. In fact, the latest technology allows you to spend less money to do more things, but how to design the storage module in order to obtain the biggest benefit in the increasingly complex data environment, becomes the Ceo,cio and other participation enterprise infrastructure construction people ponder the question, wants the enterprise to move forward, this is one of the biggest challenges which they face.
