March 29 News, according to foreign media reports, Salt Lake City A jury has begun to consider a UNIX copyright case. In this case, two companies claim to have copyright on UNIX operating systems used by large enterprises. The SCO Group in Utah State Lindon filed a lawsuit against Novell in Waltham, Massachusetts, in 2004, claiming that Novell had sold the UNIX copyright to its company in 1995 when it allowed SCO to take over its technical services for UNIX. Novell said it sold only the right to service and did not sell the copyright. SCO has asked the U.S. District Court to award compensation for its 250 million dollar loss. The SCO victory will enable it to reopen another lawsuit against IBM. In that lawsuit, SCO accused IBM of applying UNIX code to the Linux operating system. IBM denies any wrongdoing. The jury began reviewing the case in Friday (March 26), and it is expected to take several days to decide. (Zebian: Big) Author: tianhong
