"The EU will unconditionally approve the deal," the person said. Analysts say the deal will allow Facebook to quickly enter the fast-growing mobile messaging application market.
Facebook announced in February this year that it would spend $19 billion in cash-plus shares to buy instant messaging apps, including $4 billion in cash and $12 billion worth of Facebook WhatsApp.
