In the early hours of May 20, Beijing time, an unnamed Federal Reserve official said in Tuesday that the Federal Reserve is planning to respond to its first response to requests from major banks to repay the Treasury's Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) for the next June 8. The official said the regulator plans to respond to requests for 19 of the largest banks to repay TARP funds on a monthly basis. U.S. government officials are now consulting with several banks about the procedures for approving the request, including what additional information these banks will need to provide.
