The paradox of cloud storage: security, or insecurity?

Cloud computing, by its openness, can be divided into shared and private clouds, for cloud storage, the security issue is not highlighted if the enterprise takes it as an internal private cloud, because all physical devices and management logic are within the enterprise, and the enterprise's own security system and mechanism ensure that the cloud storage is in a relatively secure situation.

However, if a business or individual uses the cloud to store it in a public cloud, its security sensitivity is more pronounced than other types of cloud applications. This is mainly manifested in the following two aspects:

First, the user psychologically will feel insecure, not at ease. Because the physical device is not local, users worry about whether the data is really encrypted, and if the network suddenly interrupts how to access data from Remote Storage devices? Will user data be acquired by third parties without any knowledge of the situation? To make users feel safe psychologically, it needs a long period of market cultivation and education.

Second, from the technical level, the current encryption technology needs to be further strengthened in order to adapt to the stringent requirements of cloud storage. In the case of large-scale applications, the stability of cloud storage and access speed is very critical, and storage data encryption is the basic requirements of cloud storage, for each access, encryption and decryption time consumption needs strict control, in order to ensure user experience. And if the encryption is very secure, then the encryption algorithm will be very complex, time consumption is bound to increase, on the contrary, if the demand time is small, the security of encryption and relatively reduced. This requires the further development of encryption technology to optimize the use of cloud storage.

Therefore, the study of the sea compared to the cloud storage because it is the basis of many other cloud applications, so will walk in the forefront of cloud computing, and the development of security technology and user mentality will ultimately determine whether it is safe to use, but also need to introduce relevant laws and regulations to protect from the legal level.
