"The Retina screen makes the IPad mini a step away from perfection. "In the first generation of the IPad Mini launch, the comments are all over the top ...
The launch of the Retina version of the IPad Mini is certainly a good thing to do, but is it perfect to fill the screen's short board? AnandTech got the machine and tested it in detail, and found that it was not.
AnandTech that although Retina IPad Mini is superior to competitors in terms of design and performance, it leaves a pity on the screen-the color-registration problem and the gamut problem. The color gamut of the new IPad mini screen is not much improved on the older section.
A color gamut is a method of encoding a color, and also refers to the sum of colors that a technology system can produce. Common standards include SRGB, AdobeRGB and Prorgb. From AnandTech's test data (the smaller the number, the better the color gamut), the Retina ipad mini's color gamut is significantly narrower than the ipad Air, only slightly higher than before, or even rival Nexus 7 and NVIDIA Tegra Note 7.
DisplayMate's test chart also shows that the Retina IPad Mini has a narrow gamut, the closest to the SRGB standard is the Kindle Fire Hdx,nexus 7 performance as well.
In terms of color, the performance of the Retina IPad Mini is also unsatisfactory. (Left: ipad Air right: Retina ipad Mini)
According to IFixit's dismantling, Retina IPad Mini's screen provider is LG.
However, for ordinary consumers, the screen gap is difficult to distinguish through the naked eye, for the day-to-day use of color restore ability will not affect the use of experience. So the trade-off between the ipad Mini and the ipad Air should be more in the use scenario than the cold data.
