McAfee's vice president and Asia Pacific chief executive Michael Sentonas briefed us on the threat posture of the new era in a media communication conference on cloud Security Program November 17, 2010. According to Michael Sentonas, the number of malware that occurred in the year 09 exceeded the total of malware over the years, and the trend is now exploding. This is a huge challenge for each of us. According to McAfee, about 100,000 new malware can be found every day. About 5,500 of them are threatened. And for Chinese users, spam is a big problem, and according to statistics, almost 90% of the messages received by users are junk mail. In addition, Chinese users spend a lot of time on social networks, online games and online chats, which make them vulnerable to attacks. So how do we deal with these threat challenges? Michael Sentonas says McAfee has launched a cloud security program to address this issue, and McAfee currently deploys 120 million user points in more than 120 countries, which can connect to McAfee's cloud, the global Threat Intelligence System (GTI). McAfee protects users with the GTI. At the meeting, McAfee senior vice president and general manager of content and cloud security business, Mr. Marc Olesen, shared with us how we use the cloud to secure the cloud. Mr. Marc Olesen first introduced us to the three key trends in the security industry: the first major trend is the explosive growth of content, the second important trend is compliance requirements, the need for companies to set stringent compliance requirements, and the third trend is security itself. "Through these three trends, we learned that the way in which all products and assets were protected in a castle in the past is not enough for now," Marc Olesen said. And now there are many intellectual property and business-sensitive data being migrated to mobile PCs. This involves the cloud, which can be said to be both our friends and our enemies. Because it is an innovative platform, but at the same time it is easy to be exploited by criminals. "So how do we safely use the cloud?" "The first thing we think of is a security-service model, that is, cloud-based security applications," Marc Olesen. In fact, more and more enterprises are beginning to apply cloud security, on the one hand, it can reduce cost, on the other hand can improve efficiency. The enterprise can realize resource optimization on the basis of cloud security. The second is security in the cloud. Using blacklist technology in the cloud can greatly reduce the protection time (within 15 minutes) and even predict the customer's needs. Marc Olesen says security is the biggest problem in limiting cloud computing applications. Many cloud service providers receive ISO annual certification annually. ISO certification is a good foundation, but also a good start. But we know that cloud technology is changing very quickly, and it's not enough to do it once a year, so we need a plan to do a technical review every day to supplement the annual ISO certification. McAfee's cloud security plan is a daily replenishment plan. It detects the vulnerabilities of the user's system on a daily basis and determines whether they are controllable to meet the user's security needs.
