Once a friend, 14 years old graduated from university, 18 years old to get an MBA, 28 years old has 10 years of work experience. Another friend, a 15-year-old college student at 23, is the technology manager responsible for Facebook's core product. Every time I see them I joke, "when you were in college, I was still playing with mud." This is definitely a loss at the starting line of the sad story.

Today, a group of six graders in Silicon Valley have again refreshed my knowledge of the dynamics of Silicon Valley's innovation. I was 12 years old when still playing in the mud, this group of 00 has started to play business! Although not real gun combat entrepreneurship, but the entire entrepreneurial curriculum, project preparation, 00 after the wonderful pitch, but also far beyond my six grade students expected. Today, sacred Herat parochial in Atherton (hereinafter referred to as SHS) of the six-year students gave me a vivid "doll entrepreneurship" class.

Briefly introduce some SHS and its Atherton (Atherton). Atherton close to Palo Alto, on Facebook, under Stanford, is South Bay's famous "King", the middle of the real estate price of 6.875 million U.S. dollars, for the United States, one of the highest property prices. SHS is Atherton's oldest private K12 school (from kindergarten to high school), with the opening photo being the main building of the school. The school was established in 1898 and has an annual intake of about 1180 students. Parents are not the only leaders in Silicon Valley companies. We all know ...

It is such a run is a small rich second generation of schools, but instilled in the young through entrepreneurship to solve the social problems of the dominant concept. The teacher who tutored the course, Christopher Chiang (hereafter referred to as Chris), is a history teacher. Chris and we introduced that the history of the past year in the part of China is about the ancient Chinese history, resulting in students to China's impression stayed in ancient China. Since the past few years, China has partly changed its teaching of modern Chinese history to allow children in the heart of Silicon Valley to learn about a fast-growing China.

This course began last year with the theme "How to solve the social problems of today's China through mobile internet applications", hoping to inspire students ' understanding of modern China and cultivate students ' entrepreneurial spirit through such a way. 72 students in the year after independent survey of China's social status, each person has a minute idea pitch, describing the problems and solutions found, then the teacher selected the highest score of 20. The 20 students are going to work with other students to pitch their own plans and recruit 3-4 "early employees" of the company. The team according to the members of the specialist division of labor for: Business, developer and designer three roles. After 4 weeks of research and Development, the MIT App inventor was used to finalize the product's MVP and the company's equity allocation to determine the proportion of funds to be raised. Final pitch of the referee is composed of relevant VCs, industry experience of the parents, for each team's products, fund-raising to make the final decision. The winning team is not determined by the amount of money raised at the site, and it is a comprehensive evaluation. The highest-score team will be given the opportunity to visit the best IT companies/incubators in Silicon Valley. The specific course arrangement is as follows, you can experience this group of six grade "Little boy" to play is far beyond our normal understanding of the six grade.

Dove was fortunate enough to be judged by the last 5 teams. Each team focuses on different social issues in China, mainly in education, poverty, pollution and social philanthropy. Small entrepreneurs agree that the rapid growth of modern China's wealth, thanks in large part to the developed manufacturing sector, poses problems such as uneven wealth, environmental pollution, lack of educational resources, and backwardness in social philanthropy.

One of the teams, called 2Give, in order to solve the problem of social charity, we designed a social platform, represented by the stars, fans can donate virtual goods for the star's charitable activities on the platform, and the proceeds of virtual goods will be used to help children in poor mountainous areas and homeless tramps. Another "e-city" team, hoping to improve China's youth awareness of environmental protection, the development of a green-themed mobile games, and virtual city of the formation of similar games, users need through the game to provide a variety of means to govern and develop a serious pollution of the city, Each user runs the city environmental index will have the game ranking, the highest ranking will get virtual goods reward.

The following figure shows the team members of the two teams on the final pitch

Yes, you're right. This is a six grade course in primary school. Do not say "nine years of compulsory education", many of the domestic university's entrepreneurial courses, I am afraid to be dwarfed. Unlike many of the most popular entrepreneurial competitions in China to discover market opportunities and industrial potential, the curriculum did not deliberately emphasize market, customer and profit models, and more attention was being paid to students discovering problems and the ability to solve problems through modern technology (solve problem in a scalable way). It dawned on me that the whole of Silicon Valley's source of innovation was not a sudden outburst from the four-year Stanford University. The idea of the problem of make things happen and solve, which was instilled from the young, is how evil is not made up when grown up. The so-called "born entrepreneur" is not born, but the ideology and values conveyed in the course of the acquired education, a kind of belief and behavior way.

Different social development levels, different social universal values lead to a long time we have been solving the very real problem: survival and life. Perhaps there is no guarantee of food and clothing, the work of 100 years can not afford to buy a house of the celestial, the need to cultivate a sense of social responsibility, to develop a rapid detection of problems/problem-solving ability is too early to say. But Chinese society will always go through the road of the developed society, sooner or later, the manufacturing industry and the ground industries can not further stimulate domestic demand, sooner or later we need to force ourselves to transform into a technological innovation society, sooner or later we need to compete with their Silicon Valley peers on the world stage in 00. Then we, the other, is not able to see the gap at the same time, struggling to catch up. This 00 after the baton, only to do the final sprint.

Although I was still playing with mud when I was 12 years old, by the time my child was 12 years old, I wanted to tell him a story about catching up and surpassing.
