November 13 News, TSMC today officially announced that 16nm FinFET Plus (16ff+) process has begun to risk trial production.

16ff+ is a standard 16nm FinFET enhanced version, also has a stereo transistor technology, known as the 20nm Soc plane process performance up to 40%, or the same frequency power loss of up to 50%.

TSMC said the process had been validated on the arm's 64-bit architecture, with the CORTEX-A57 core capable of running to the 2.3ghz,cortex-a53 small core to 75mW.

TSMC said that the 16ff+ process will be completed by the end of November through full reliability verification, nearly 60 customer chip design arrangements for the end of 2015 to complete the flow film.

At present, Avago, Freescale, LG, MediaTek, NVIDIA, Renesas Electronics, Xilinx have expressed their support for the TSMC 16ff+ process, and said they are preparing the corresponding products. (rain)
