Twitter buys lock screen app developer Vinyl

The latter announced the news on the official website in Monday. Vinyl is an application that runs on the Android system to help users create custom lock-screen content. The company was founded by Gmail product director Tode Jackson (Todd Jackson), Edward He (Edward Ho) and Gordon Louck (Gordon Luk). Covercover was launched last October but quickly attracted more than 100,000 users. Through this application, users can create a custom lock screen menu to highlight common applications and related content. More importantly, vinyl's lock screen content display can be adjusted according to the user's environment automatically, for example, when driving, vinyl will highlight the content of Pandora and other music playback applications, when in the workplace, vinyl will give priority to display Evernote or Dropbox Office applications. Vinyl's ideas quickly attracted the attention of VCs. Including the founder of the Round Capital and PayPal co-founder Max Lev (Max Levchin), only a few months after the establishment of vinyl to provide a whopping 1.7 million dollars of seed funds. In an official statement, Vinyl said its application would continue to be available at Google Play. And after the team joins Twitter, it will create a better product to serve the public. Details of the Twitter and vinyl transactions were not announced. A Twitter spokeswoman said the company declined to comment on information outside Vinyl's official statement.
