Twitter's Wednesday paper to the Securities and Exchange Commission

On the evening of December 5 in Beijing, Twitter said in a Wednesday filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that Pearson, former CEO of Machori Scadino (Marjorie Scardino), was appointed director of the company.

Scadino, 66 years old, will become the first female director of Twitter. The appointment takes effect immediately and lasts at least until the end of 2014. Scadino himself confirmed the news today on Twitter.

Scadino was the CEO and board member of Pearson Group from 1997 to 2012, and Pearson Group is the world's largest educational company and book publisher, the well-known Penguin Publishing Group, Longman Publishing house and Global IELTS education are subsidiaries of Pearson Group.

People in the industry say Twitter is wise to choose Scadino. With the background of Pearson Group, Scadino has a very wide connection with the media industry, and media companies are one of Twitter's core partners.

Prior to this, Twitter board members included: former Netscape CFO Peter Coury Peter Currie, former News Corp COO Peter Chernin, Silicon Valley venture capitalists Peter Finton (Peter Fenton), DoubleClick former CEO David Rosenbratt (David Rosenblatt), Twitter co-founder Dorsey (Jack Dorsey), co-founder Evan (Evan Williams) and incumbent CEO Costello.

Since all the members of the Twitter board are made up of white men, they have been criticized before. In October this year, it was reported that Twitter plans to appoint the first female director after the IPO. Twitter traded on the NYSE in the eastern time of November 7.
