Beijing time March 7 Morning News, the British Business Secretary Vince Cable to support Huawei's bid for the London Underground mobile network, the deal is about to be approved, which means that by the 2012 London Olympic Games, users can use mobile phones in the London Underground. But Internet and information experts have warned that Huawei could be a potential security threat and that the devices could be used to intercept mobile phones and even cut off telephone communications. U.S. officials have said Huawei will pose a threat to its national security. Huawei sells telecoms equipment to countries around the world, such as India and the Middle East, with a yearly income of $28 billion trillion and a total of around 100,000 employees worldwide. The UK Department of Commerce, Innovation and Skills said that he had not expressed any objections to the deal. The UK Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) is currently reviewing the technical aspects of the deal, but has not yet considered blocking the deal. However, private security experts have expressed concern about the move. "There is a general problem with this type of equipment--it may be cut off by someone," said Dr. Richard Clayton, a Cambridge University security researcher Richard Clayden. And that's what security services are worried about. Claydon also said the technology could also allow the phone to be intercepted. "This kind of technology is already having problems in other countries, and I just want our security services to be aware of these problems," he said. "But Tim Watkins, vice president of Western Europe, has denied that its technology will pose any security threat to the US and British telecoms networks," Tim Woggins said. "National security will not be at risk because of our equipment," he said. He also stressed that the world's leading telecoms operators, including BT, use Huawei's equipment, but there is no security problem. "The government is trying to work with Huawei to ensure the safety and resilience of its products in the UK," the Cabinet Office said. (PEI)
