UNESCO collection of World Teachers ' Day stories

The theme of this year's World Teacher Day is "revival begins with teachers", with the aim of paying tribute to teachers who play a key role in rebuilding social, economic and intellectual life. On World Teacher Day, UNESCO will invite teachers from Haiti, Israel, Lesotho, Mali, Laos and France to gather at their headquarters in Paris to discuss experiences in coping with the crisis. UNESCO will also launch a new global statistical report on the shortage of teachers and a photographic exhibition showing teachers working under worrying conditions.

October 5, 1966, the International Labour Organization and UNESCO jointly signed the recommendation on the status of Teachers. To commemorate this day, since 1994, the year of October 5 has been designated as World Teacher's day.
