Hust Van der Ruren Joost van Dreunen, chief executive of SuperData, the market research company, recently interviewed foreign media to share his views on the 2014 mobile gaming market and to look forward to the 2015 trend. The following is a compilation of the main contents of the interview article.

Journalist: What is the most important industry news in the 2014?

Hust Van der Ruren: There is no doubt that the most important news event in the mobile gaming industry this year is the "Candy smash legend" developer King. King's story shows that the casual gaming market is huge, but many people still misunderstand mobile and digital games. Investors, for example, prefer to compare King to Zynga, but the two companies are actually quite different.

Reporter: 2014, your company's business focus changes?

Van der Ruren: SuperData has been working to understand the digital gaming market, and 2014 is no exception. This year, host gamers quickly embraced the digital distribution model, while the mobile gaming market continued to grow wildly.

The most important event of our company in 2014 is that our data collection has reached a critical mass, allowing us to study the unknown areas of free and PC downloadable content. This is a wonderful thing for our data-control group.

Journalist: Which mobile game do you like to play in the 2014?

Van der Ruren: My favorite mobile game this year is "sunburn!", which was developed by several of my students at the New York University Games Center.

I was excited to see a group of smart, gifted students spontaneously creating wonderful and complete games. Participation in the sunburn! "Every student has learned a lot and I am proud of them."

Reporter: In your opinion, what is the most important mobile game market in the 2015?

Van der Ruren: In terms of market size, the 2015 China and India markets may be crucial, but issuers should never underestimate the importance of mature markets such as North America and Europe.

Can you predict the most important mobile gaming industry trend in 2015 years?

Van der Ruren: Innovation in business models and (games) content.

The current gaming industry is in a breakthrough moment, so mobile gaming is still full of innovation. But as mature markets begin to saturate, we believe that both the distribution of mobile games and the business model will usher in new subversive innovations.

As we have seen, King began to use the traditional marketing channels for the "Candy smash legend" To obtain new users, and "Zhi Long fan City" and "tribal conflict" has been the replacement of the game content of the cross promotion. In the 2015, small and medium-sized gaming companies will have the opportunity to reduce marketing risk through innovative business models, such as partnering with other companies to expand their revenue streams.

That being said, the content is always king. We look forward to seeing the game company create a new miracle in 2015.

Journalist: What is your personal New Year's resolution and what kind of changes do you want in the industry?

Van der Ruren: Mature. As the father of a two-year-old, and the CEO of a start-up company, I've realized that everything I do and every word I say can affect others. In the 2015, I will take a more holistic view of how that affects others.

For example, since my child has now noticed the TV screen, I have given up playing host games and switched to 3DS to play Nintendo games.

From an industry perspective, I hope the mobile gaming industry will become more mature and inclusive in the 2015. Games need to be shared, and so are creative games.
