According to the government Computer news website, the United States Army's Architecture Services Division (Architecture Services Division) and the Software Engineering Center (Software UB Center, the SEC, has deployed a platform to complete the rapid development and porting of applications to private clouds. Engineers are using Outsystems's Agile platform Agile Platform products to accomplish this task.

Cloud computing is already one of the most popular topics in the IT industry, but only a handful of companies really dare to gamble. At the same time, many companies do start using cloud technology from companies such as Amazon, Google, IBM, Microsoft or Oracle. For security reasons, most companies and government organizations have started to organize the experience of using private clouds.

The core issue is how to create cloud applications and how to migrate the code of existing legacy systems to the cloud. The cloud infrastructure provides both an IT infrastructure (IaaS) and a development platform (PaaS). Porting applications to the cloud, whether it's a public cloud, a private or a hybrid cloud, is not straightforward and simple. This is especially true when avoiding vendor lock-in is one of the main goals.

Outsystems such manufacturers and their products are trying to solve this problem. Outsystems offers an agile Platform, claiming to provide a simple porting process for applications to cloud deployments.

On their website, Outsystems describes the agile Platform:

Free Open Source business application Integration Suite, can help you immediately start learning process, and quickly deliver full-featured applications, a few hours to complete.

The purpose of the product is to assist with development and deployment activities, provide support for HTML5, CSS 3, and provide the ability to integrate mobile applications.

But the firm's promise is only one side of the coin, and true experience is another. Like all complex software and system architectures, the development platform needs to be thoroughly tested to verify that they are available.

In CGN's news article, editor Rutrell Yasin said:

The first test project for Agile platform is to migrate a complex, existing system to the cloud infrastructure. At first, the system needed 2.5 to develop and deploy. With the agile Platform, developers can complete the deliverable within 16 weeks while adding new features, including a mobile application interface, OUTSYSTEMS officials said. The final application was deployed in the early November 2011 to the production environment.

Perhaps products such as agile platform can inspire the development and porting of cloud applications, whether off-the-shelf or untapped applications. Or are they probably just "silver bullets" that will be gone in the near future? At the very least, the Software Engineering Center is happy with the way they choose.
