April 6--The United States Warisin (VeriSign) announced in Thursday that to raise more funds to improve the infrastructure, the. com and. NET domain name registration fees will be increased, effective from October 15 this year.
According to the MarketWatch website, Warisin said that the wholesale price of the. com domain name would be increased from $6 to $6.42, and that. NET will be raised from $3.50 to $3.85. Two domain name price increases were 7% and 10% respectively.
Warisin said it was the first price increase since the pricing structure established by ICANN (Internet domain name and address management) in 1999. Warisin did not provide financial expectations for the rise.
Warisin revealed that as of January 31 this year, the 65 million active Web addresses with. com and. NET suffixes have been made.
