US game market consumes 24.7 billion dollars in retail and mainframe drops

(Compilation/Sky White) Newzoo, a US market research firm, reported in Monday that U.S. consumers spent 24.7 billion dollars on games in 2010, down 2% from 2009. "Our data show that although consumers spend less money on host games, they spend more on other platforms, such as mobile phones, online games, etc." Peter Warman, chairman of Newzoo, told reporters: "Consumers are now taking into account the type of game, the platform, the time and place of the game, and the relevant background needs, etc." according to Newzoo, the survey shows The amount of money that American players spend on host games (including DLC and handheld machines) is down 29% from last year, with only 10.6 billion dollars in market share.  and PC and Mac platform game sales also fell 19%, to 2010 years only 2.1 billion U.S. dollars in market share.  At the same time, other types of sales channels have two-digit hundreds of-percent improvement, such as mobile devices, online games, casual games, portals, social networking sites and Internet downloads, and so on. In the UK, the game market's overall sales volume is 3.7 billion pounds (about 5.7 billion U.S. dollars), according to Newzoo, the data fell by 3% Year-on-year last year. In January next year, Newzoo will publish a more detailed report on the overall consumption survey of the game at the end of 2010.
