The Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington is trying to introduce Kinect into surgery, according to overseas media reports. Surgeons now routinely use minimally invasive surgery robots as their own surgical tools, and minimally invasive surgery to reduce surgical scars through remote control. Surgeons need to operate sophisticated command equipment, control the camera on the robot to observe the patient's affected body and then perform the operation under the knife. The problem, however, is that doctors are not aware of tactile feedback at the time of surgery, or even the resulting misoperation. Howard Chizeck, a professor of electrical engineering at the University of Washington, said that what they are now studying is the use of Kinect to provide surgeons with more complete video information and tactile feedback, reducing the risk of surgery and increasing the success rate. Fredrik Ryden, who is studying for postgraduate studies in the field, has solved the problem by writing a driver code that reflects the Kinect's perception of the surroundings. In surgery, Kinect scans the patient's vital organs and bones and sets the protective area, and when the doctor appears to be in the wrong place to endanger the protected areas, the Kinect feeds the warning to the surgeon in the distance for the first time, thus avoiding improper operation. "This is a very good application demonstration. Because Kinect's cost is low, it works well. "Fredrik Ryden said that if the cost of a medical device such as a CT scan would be as high as $50,000 trillion," it is more important that Microsoft provides a very fast feedback system in the Kinect, which makes it possible to apply it in actual surgery. Fredrik Ryden said that after some minor adjustments, he would announce his findings soon.
