According to foreign media reports, the Friday report by IDC, a market analyst, showed that internet advertising spending rose 4.5% to $7.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009, its first annual growth last year.
In 2009, IDC said, the U.S. network advertising spending accounted for the first 10% of the total advertising market share. 7.4 billion of billions of dollars in internet advertising in the fourth quarter last year set a new record.
Karsten Weide, IDC analyst Kasten Wede, wrote: "ebay's fourth-quarter revenue has been significantly improved to make a major contribution to classified advertising growth." "ebay released its fourth-quarter earnings in January this year, with a profit of more than 3 times times the same period in 2008. Microsoft later gained more market share in the U.S. search market, but has not yet translated into a growth in the share of search advertising revenue. In the fourth quarter of last year, Microsoft's revenue share in U.S. search advertising remained 5.8%.
In the fourth quarter of last year, Google's share of U.S. search advertising revenue rose from 53.8% to 54.6% in the same period in 2008, with Yahoo's share falling from 9.8% to 9.1%, as advertisers and users were sceptical about whether Yahoo was serious about its search business. Yahoo has recently reached a search agreement with Microsoft, which provides search technology and is divided into revenue.
IDC estimates that online advertising spending averaged 8% to 16% per cent a quarter in 2010.
Global Internet advertising spending rose 7.6% to $16.7 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009, the report said. Global network advertising spending for the year 2009 was flat, at $60.1 billion trillion.
