Matt Cutts said the meaning of this label is to tell the search engine that the link is not edited by the author, so this link is not a trust ticket. The search engine sees this tag and may reduce or completely cancel the voting weight of the link. This tag is usually used in blog comments or forum posts because these are the places where the most junk links appear. Now mainstream blogs and forum software automatically add this tag to the comments and posts link. Another effect is that if you sell ads on the website, you can use this tag. Because the original intention of buying and selling web ads should be traffic, not PR value or try to influence search engine rankings. But the links in blog comments and forum posts are different, and these links are added by users and readers themselves, not by site owners or authors.
