Recently, MIT's Tactile Media research group and the Fluent interface team collaborated on a new project called Social Textiles, which is designed to turn fashion into a social network that is worn on its body. The design team used a number of technologies, including power cord transformation, deformation display, and if a friend came near, your clothes will remind you that your common place will be shown on the clothes to attract the attention of friends.

The team is trying to solve a simple problem-how to make social media substantive through technology. Team Representative Kan said:

"If you think about it, thousands of people every day see our personal files on Facebook and Twitter, but we can't sense it." The archives on social media are intangible, but the clothes we wear are tangible. We want to be combined to create a social catalyst. ”

At present, Social textiles only T-shirts, but theoretically, any clothing is possible.

The front part of the T-shirt has a heat-sensitive color ink printed pattern, under the pattern of ultra-thin circuit film;

Bluetooth can be paired with a smartphone, to detect the same room with you have the same interests, people, you are less than 12 feet away from the T-shirt collar hum to warn;

There is a capacitive sensor in the T-shirt, and if you pat that person on the shoulder or shake hands, the T-shirt will light up and reveal what you have in common.
