Mack Cassidy Mike Cassidy, Silicon Valley's "entrepreneurial king": Foreign media today published an article on the Silicon Valley "entrepreneurial king" Mack Cassidy (Mike Cassidy). Cassidy successfully founded four technology companies, currently working for Google, as product management Director. The following is the full text of the article: four consecutive success in Silicon Valley, entrepreneurial success is not easy, and can be a number of successful entrepreneurial people are rare. Steve Jobs and Anderson (Marc Andreessen) have two successful startups, with jobs starting Apple and Pixar, while Anderson founded Netscape and Loudcloud. Clark (Jim Clark) has successfully created three companies, namely High-tech computer companies Silicon Graphics, Netscape (co-founded with Anderson) and medical services software company Healtheon. So, is there anyone who succeeds four times? Mack Cassidy (Mike Cassidy) is an example of Silicon Valley's "entrepreneurial king". He founded the Ruba, Xfire, Direct hit and stylus innovation four companies, and the CEO of these companies. At present, he has sold these enterprises to Google, Viacom and ask Jeeves and other companies, a total of more than 600 million U.S. dollars. "I am a impatient person and I do things very quickly," says Cassidy. "This May, Google bought his travel service website Ruba, so he joined Google." Google, he says, also has a startup mindset. In the context of the financial crisis, few High-tech companies listed, start-ups are also difficult to find buyers. However, more than 40-Year-old Cassidy was able to quickly create and sell his company. And his entrepreneurial experience may not be over. Not by luck. Woren Paikede (Warren Packard) said: "Cassidy is not by luck, he is good at discovering opportunities and finding solutions." "Pike is an investor in Cassidy's second, third and fourth start-up companies. Parker met Cassidy in 1987, when they joined in the development of a solar car. They were reunited again in 1998, when Cassidy set up direct hit, a partner of the famous DFJ investment company Draper Fisher Jurvetson. Cassidy sought financial support from the company. "He needs to convince not only me," says Pike. He spoke concisely, persuasively, and casually, and acted quickly. "On that day, Cassidy got 3.5 million dollars in investment. Another entrepreneurial Silicon Valley entrepreneur, Trevor Traina, joked: "I am second only to Mike and a person who does not follow the usual logic.""Traina sold his two startups: sold Comparenet to Microsoft in 100 million dollars and sold Stepup to Intuit in 62 million dollars. At present, he is running a third company driverside.com. "Every time I turn around, I find Cassidy selling another company," says Traina. "Traina, Cassidy and some of the local CEOs will have dinner once a month to discuss business issues. Jeremy Stoppelman, the CEO of Jeremy Stopman, said: "In Silicon Valley, if an entrepreneur succeeds, he will feel lucky, and Mike has repeatedly created new value." Few people were as tenacious and tireless as he was, and he was very energetic. "Speed wins Cassidy's entrepreneurial experience is short-lived. He operates direct hit for only 500 days and runs Ruba and stylus for only two years and 2.5 respectively. Xfire took him 3 years, mainly because he canceled the original Ultimate Arena plan. Ultimate Arena is a gaming platform where players can win money by playing games. Cassidy played a metaphor: "When a common player plays chess with a master, if the ordinary chess player can take two steps each time, then no master will win." "Cassidy always succeeds," said Angela Strange, a former vice president of Ruba product management and current Google Gaming product manager Angela Srenji. He never chatter, decisive, well-informed, and very astute. "Cassidy Entrepreneurship list:" Computer telephony software business Stylus innovation,1996 was artisoft to buy 13 million dollars. • Search engine direct Hit, customers including MSN,LYCOS,AOL, etc. In 2000, Direct hit was asked Jeeves to buy 532.5 million dollars, and Cassidy won the "500-day gain 500 million" reputation. • Online gaming Community Xfire, which has more than 15 million registered members in over 100 countries. In 2006, VIACOM/MTV bought Xfire for 110 million dollars. Ruba, a travel service website, was recently acquired by Google. Personal experience may be, these entrepreneurial experience does not fully reflect Cassidy's rich background. He has studied jazz pianos at the Berkeley Conservatory of Music (Berklee Eton), obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in aerospace engineering from MIT, and studied at Harvard Business School (Harvard Business parochial). Currently, Cassidy is a guest committee member of the MIT Media Lab. Cassidy's colourful career may have been influenced by Paul Cassidy, his father's Paul Cassidy. Paul Cassidy has taught political science at the United States Air Force Academy (U.S Air Force Academy) and has served as defense liaison Officer at the U.S. Embassy in London. He was a representative of the U.S.-Soviet nuclear arms negotiations in the 1980s. Paul Cassidy knows that even with venture capital, startups are only one-tenth more likely to succeed. He said: "I warned him that the chances of success in many startups are slim." "In that condition, the chances of success of four consecutive ventures can be said to be extremely rare," Paul Cassidy said. Traina and others said that although Mack Cassidy always wanted to serve in Google, and was pleased to be Google's product management Director, responsible for the search engine department related work, but he started a new venture is only a matter of time. "I wouldn't be surprised whether Mack Cassidy chose to stay at Google or create another company," Srenji said. "What is Cassidy's next plan?" He is currently interested in location-based mobile services, as well as video search. We will see if he can make it to the fifth successful venture. (Chin Liang)
