Slater will be Verizon's 13th-term council member who served in the Clinton administration between 1997 and 2001. Mr. Slater is currently a partner at the Washington law firm, Barton Bergus (Patton Boggs LLP), specializing in transport, infrastructure and public policy issues. According to C114, Barton Bergus is Washington Land District's biggest lobbying firm. He also served as Vice President and Senior Advisor to James Lee Witt Associates, the public security and crisis management consulting firm in Washington, D.C., Witt. He is also a director of Delta Air Lines, Esien technology (ICx Technologies), railway operator KCS (Kansas city Southern) and Lance Group (Transurban Group). Verizon's share price fell 55 cents to $28.64 in this afternoon's deal.
