November 11 Afternoon news, according to foreign media reports, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai said in Wednesday, the group of 20 (G20) summit will seek to address global challenges, should not discuss the Chinese currency or any other specific currency. "I think there is a general consensus among the members of the group of 20 that we should not focus on the particular currency of any particular member, as this is not the root of the global economic problem," Cui Tiankai said when asked whether the summit would discuss the renminbi. In an interview with Reuters, Cui Tiankai said many countries are equally concerned about the global liquidity glut following the US's latest loose monetary policy. He also said the US Congress had no position to comment or take action against the renminbi, but noted that China-US relations were still good. He said he hoped the 20 summit would unleash a "strong signal" on trade protectionism and reform of the international monetary system.
