Web version of Skype coming up

Micro-letter just launched the phone book, the web version of Skype came: according to the Skype website, Microsoft announced in Friday the launch of the beta version of the web version of Skype (Skype for web), users do not need to download software, through the browser can be implemented chat function. Skype will support most of the mainstream browsers, including Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

Because it is the testing phase, Microsoft is currently only to a small number of users to the web version of Skype, in the next few months, Microsoft will be the official release of the web version of Skype to all users.

Currently beta version of the Skype for Web only supports text chat temporarily, to get voice calls and video chat features also need to install a plug-in. With the continuous improvement of the Web real-time call (WEBRTC) API, Skype will not need plug-ins to achieve voice and video call functions via Web pages.

Previously, Microsoft had opened Web pages embedded in Skype to global Outlook users. With Skype users breaking 300 million, Microsoft's use of WEBRTC technology to launch a web version of Skype is likely to make other devices such as Google Chromebooks docking with Skype in the future.
