The Palm http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/5578.html ">webos" is an embedded operating system that takes the Linux kernel as its mainstay and adds some proprietary software developed by some palm companies. It was developed primarily for Palm smartphones. The platform was announced to the public on January 8, 2009 by the Las Vegas International Consumer Electronics Exhibition and released on June 6, 2009. The platform is de facto PalmOS successor, with webOS focusing on online social networking and Web 2.0 integration.

HP is facing a lot of competition in the hope of using webOS to fully participate in the mobile sector. I appreciate HP's willingness to try and admire HP's efforts to integrate the software and hardware development approach. I think HP is fully expected to be the second company to introduce this integration approach into the tablet sector (and wait for rim to launch playbook). iOS and Android are now scrambling to share the handset market, and the tablet market has been born for only a year, with few competitors and a weak ipad. Yes, Samsung Galaxy Tab is also not an ipad competitor. HP still seems to be in the fight.
