RSS is a text-based format. It is a form of XML (extensible Identity language). Usually RSS files are labeled Xml,rss files (often referred to as RSS feeds or channels) and typically contain only a simple list of items. In general, each item contains a title, a brief introduction, and a URL link (for example, the address of a Web page). Other information, such as the date, the creator's name, and so on, can be selected.





RSS is an easy way for sites to share content with other sites (also called aggregated content) and is often used for news and other sequential sites, such as blogs. The Web site provides RSS output to help users find updates to the site's content.




How does
RSS work? First you generally need to download and install an RSS reader, and then subscribe to the list of aggregated news directories provided by the Web site for the content of the news section that you are interested in. After you subscribe, you will get the latest content of your subscribed news channels in time. For average users, RSS feeds can be as easy as using Outlook Express for subscriptions, and for Web application developers, RSS is less complex to work with, at least more easily understood and implemented than most other common web technologies. Some people think that RSS is meant to be a fatal blow to mailing list subscriptions, which is almost inevitable in the way RSS is used. But from the actual effect, the most popular application of RSS is not a centralized subscription of business information, but a personal information aggregation through the web, a typical example is the National blog author (Blogger) first became the most popular RSS application crowd.
