The findings come from TechTarget's survey of 184 it and business professionals in the UK and Europe.
The survey, which took place from July 2012 to September, deals with the status of the use of large data technologies and also analyzes the business reasons for large data projects.
Surveys show that companies are willing to invest more in data management and BI.
56% of companies expect a growth in bi-analysis next year, while 43% plan to increase their budgets on data warehousing and analysis databases.
Although the use of large data is still in its infancy, the 27% per cent planned growth rate is enough to impress people. 23% of participants have deployed large data projects to varying degrees.
Whether through the enterprise itself or mergers and acquisitions, business growth has become the main cause of data growth. 50% of companies want to have a better understanding of the user through the implementation of large data projects, and another 48% of companies see Big data as a competitive advantage.
In a large data circle, there is a hot word-social media data-and the survey confirms its importance. 33% of companies want to be able to gather ideas through social networks. However, machine data is more important, 38% of enterprises want to be able to better use of sensor and log data, improve operational efficiency.
While surveys show the heat of big data, the momentum of advanced technologies (such as data mining and analytics) that already existed before the big data boom in recent years has remained unabated.
63% of participants implemented data mining, 62% used analytics, and 48% used large data analysis techniques.
Not only that, the development of relational database technology is far from the end.
Only 20% of participants believe that existing relational databases and data warehouses are not enough to handle new forms of data, such as video, pictures, and social media data.
Structured data remains critical, and its importance is not diminished by the prevalence of unstructured data. 80% of the data in most businesses is structured data.
