When the smart machine industry describes the screen, it usually uses the words "clearblack, 1080p, Retina, AMOLED, supersensitive". Some words are for marketing use, some words and screen materials are directly scientific basis, the following first look at the mainstream mobile phone screen.
Retina display: Apple Mobile LCD screen, up to 1136*640 resolution
HD Super Amoled: Samsung's high resolution screen name using OLED screen technology
1080P: Screen pixel 1920*1080 720P: Lower screen resolution, screen pixel 1280*720
Supersensitive (super Sensitive): new technology, can operate the touch screen with gloves
Puremotion HD: Nokia a 1280*768 display
ClearBlack: Anti-reflective filter used on screen
Super LCD: An LCD screen technology
IPS: An LCD screen technology that produces clearer screen quality, wider viewing angles, and more.
Screen composition
Seemingly simple screen is composed of several layers of things, such as lighting layer (backlit LCD display), TFT layer (organic thin film transistor), filter layer (reduce reflective) and so on.
Mainstream mobile phone screen material is divided into two main categories: LCD and OLED
LCD (liquid crystal display), need to be irradiated by the backlight to display, relatively, amoled/oled, using the "Active matrix Organic light-emitting diode" can be spontaneous light. It's complicated, but we can simply look at 2 of them:
LCD itself does not glow, with the use of additional light to produce black, white, color, the more high-end LCD screen produces more accurate color, but sometimes manufacturers deliberately adjust the display to produce weaker red, blue and purple to reduce the device power consumption. Because the brightness and color balance is quite good, life can reach thousands of hours.
Summary: LCD display principle determines its visual angle is not ideal. In order to increase the visual angle, some manufacturers have developed a wide range of perspective technology, to improve the perspective of the LCD display features, such as IPs, can increase the visual angle of the LCD display to 160 degrees, or even more.
OLED (organic light-emitting diode), technically not required to produce black, just white and color. So being considered energy-saving, the side effect is that green is often too saturated. Compared to LCDs, which have a shorter life span and cost more, the past has led HTC to switch from AMOLED to LCD screens.
Summary: At present, it is generally believed that OLED technology is more advanced, but also the direction of future development, but the current development is not very mature, Samsung developed the AMOLED series of screen-oriented.
Ips:ips is a high-end LCD technology, said to have a wider perspective and better clarity, the IPhone 5 with this screen. IPs screen also belongs to a TFT screen, TFT belongs to the main force of the LCD camp.
Summary: As the main force Tft LCD camp, currently on the market most of the mobile phones still use TFT screen, but they have adopted different panel technology.
About Super AMOLED
Samsung has made a number of OLED displays, with Super AMOLED, Super AMOLED Plus.
The usual RGB mode (red, green, and blue) has three primary colors for each sub-pixel (for example, White needs three sub-pixel with equal strength). In Super AMOLED, the pentile mode is used, with less red and blue subpixel than green. Compared to the RGB mode (each sub-pixel has three primary colors), each pixel uses only two sub-pixel (a green and red or green and blue). So the PenTile mode uses less subpixel than the LCD screen and other company AMOLED screens. It looks closely, the AMOLED screen color particles more strong. There are also people who like the Samsung Super AMOLED plus screen, which uses three sub-pixel patterns per pixel, and they think the picture is brighter.
But the PenTile model has its advantages, according to Samsung, which explains that the pentile screen is cheaper, more visible and more durable and more power-saving.
Pixel density
In general, the larger the pixel density, the better the image quality, the 5-inch 1080P screen usually supports 300S to 400S pixel density. But you don't need such a high pixel density on the tablet, because your face doesn't have to be so close when you use the tablet.
Brightness and color
Like High-definition television, people's eyes are often attracted by brighter, more vibrant colours. But pay attention to too saturated will make users tired, too fake will make people disgusted. The problem with many OLED screens is that they are more saturated than they really are.
Reflective
Many screens are heavily reflective, but manufacturers are trying to add layers to them. Nokia, for example, has a layer of filter (clearblack) under the glass above the touch layer, which also works for AMOLED and LCD screens. Finally achieve a better reading effect by reducing reflectivity, whether indoors or outdoors.
Which is the best?
Nokia, Apple, Samsung and HTC all have high pixel high-end phone screens, LCD and OLED screen selection when all look personal hobby, CNET Lab test, found that Galaxy S4 than HTC One overall better, but not every aspect.
In direct sunlight, Nokia screens performed better, with Samsung screens performing poorly in the sun in 4 top manufacturers. If you need to stare at the screen for a long time, you can choose an electricity-saving (OLED, Amoled), if not just choose a competitor.
If you don't care about the color is too dull, inflexible, do not care whether the reflection is serious, do not care about reading small text is a little fuzzy (pentile mode), there is no reason to let specifications determine your choice.
