Windows 7 Installation update received error 0X80070002

This error means that Windows Update cannot find the file that you want.
This is one of the many errors that the System Update Readiness tool might fix. If you encounter one of these errors, the tool will typically run automatically the next time you perform Windows Update. However, you can also download the tool from the Microsoft Download Center and run it manually to see if you can fix this error.

You may not be able to install updates from Windows Update because of inconsistent file data or registry data. By installing the System Update Readiness Tool, you can resolve these inconsistencies and be able to install updates from Windows update. After you install the System Update Preparation tool, install the update from Windows update again.

There are two ways to download and install the System Update Readiness Tool. If you have an error while running Windows update or if you want to ensure that the System Update Readiness tool is installed correctly, try Method 2.

Method 1: Use Windows Update

To download and install the System Update Readiness Tool, follow these steps:

1. Click "Start" and "Control Panel" in turn.
