Run the System Update Readiness Tool (Checksur.exe)
1. Download and run the System Update Preparation tool. The tool runs a scan to check for inconsistencies that might prevent future service operations.

2. Try to install the update again. If this method does not resolve the issue, proceed to the next section.
Perform a repair installation of Windows 7
When you perform a repair installation, the current Windows 7 installation is restored to the version of the installation DVD. This operation requires that you reinstall all updates not included in this version of Windows 7.
To perform a repair installation of Windows 7, follow these steps:
1. Close all programs, and then restart the computer.
2. Insert a Windows 7 DVD into your computer's DVD drive.
3. In the Installer window, click Install Now.
Note: If Windows does not automatically detect DVDs, follow these steps:
A. Click Start to collapse this image to expand the image button, and then type Drive:\setup.exe in the search box.
