Windows Azure is authorized by the FedRAMP Joint Licensing Board (P-ato)

We are pleased to announce that Windows Azure is authorized by the FedRAMP Joint Licensing Board (JAB) for provisional authorities to Operate (P-ato). Windows Azure is the first common cloud platform to be licensed as a JAB P-ato in the same category, and JAB P-ato needs more rigorous scrutiny than a specific authority.

Microsoft has reached this federal compliance level so that it can assure its customers that Windows Azure has passed the necessary assessment to confirm that it complies with government security standards. This helps organizations realize the benefits of using Windows Azure cloud more quickly.

Just last month, we announced that Windows Azure was the first to pass the evaluation of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Cloud Control Index (CCM) in the SOC 2 audit. Our continued investment in security and compliance has benefited both government and corporate customers, providing a trustworthy cloud environment to support their operations.
