Windows Azure publishes read-only access to cross-zone redundancy storage Public Preview

Today, we are very excited to release products that meet this requirement, read-only access to the RA-GRS public preview of redundant storage.

Ra-grs can provide read-only access to secondary storage replicas when storage accounts in the primary location are not available. The secondary location is hundreds of miles from the primary location, so RA-GRS can improve data access while providing data sustainability.

The new read-only access service is now available as an option to enhance replication capabilities. To use this service, visit the Preview Service Web page and request a limited preview. Once registered, you can go to the Windows Azure management portal and enable RA-GRS on it for your storage account. You can also enable Ra-grs through the Windows Azure service Management API. After you enable your account, you can get the name of the secondary endpoint. You can read your data by sending a read request to the secondary endpoint. In addition, you can query the endpoint to learn about replication latency for your account.
