WTO investigates U.S. measures to protect Chinese tyres

At the meeting, officials at the Chinese WTO delegation noted that the US side's lack of factual basis for China's tyres was contrary to WTO rules and a departure from its commitment not to trade protectionism at the group of 20 summit.　　China wants the US side to remove these unreasonable measures as soon as possible and believes that the WTO expert group can make a fair and reasonable ruling. Last September, the United States announced a 3-year punitive tariff on passenger cars and light truck tyres imported from China. China immediately appealed the US tire safeguard to the WTO to launch the dispute settlement procedure. In the case of the two sides, China last December requested the establishment of a group of experts, but the United States in accordance with the relevant procedures to prevent the establishment of the Group of Experts.
